Jess Meikle, M.S., M.Ed.
Practicum Student

Jess is a third-year Ph.D. student in the Child Clinical Psychology program at the University of Washington, currently completing a clinical practicum at Brooks Powers Group. She brings a rich blend of clinical and research experience to her work with children, adolescents, and young adults.

Jess’s professional experience includes providing individual therapy to youth and young adults using evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, Exposure and Response Prevention, and behavioral parent training. Prior to attending graduate school, she worked with Tribal Nations in Oklahoma, conducting research to better understand and identify health and mental health inequities across tribes. During this time, she also conducted pre-screening assessments with young adults and adults for a depression study, assessing symptoms of depression, bipolar disorder, and psychosis to determine study eligibility.

Jess conducts research on developmental psychology, caregiver–child relationships, emotion regulation processes, intergenerational transmission of trauma, cross-generational connectedness, and well-being among Indigenous communities. She is passionate about grounding both her clinical and research work in evidence-based, culturally sensitive practice.

Outside of work, Jess enjoys spending time with her German Shepherd, beading, attending concerts, and watching TV shows with her loved ones.
